Storage and Protection of Information

AWS

TRICOAST EDUCATION takes online security very seriously. We ensure each certified teacher has a unique login ID comprised of a unique username (email address) password combination to access our platform via secure HTTPS. We utilize Transport Layer Security (TLS) for our secure communication protocol which provides end-to-end security of data sent between applications over the Internet, including emails, web browsing sessions, and file transfers.

Our platform utilizes AWS for infrastructure as a service (laaS). AWS is responsible for the underlying infrastructure that supports the cloud. They are also responsible for protecting the global infrastructure that runs all the services offered in the AWS cloud. This infrastructure is comprised of the hardware, software, networking, and facilities that run AWS services. This enables TRICOAST EDUCATION to leverage the AWS power to be highly available, to increase our reliability, and to offer increased flexibility that allows scaling up for surges in traffic. We also benefit from AWS data centers and a network architected to protect information, identities, applications, and devices. All data flowing across the AWS network is automatically encrypted at the physical layer before leaving their secured facilities.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), provides TRICOAST EDUCATION with secure, durable, highly-scalable cloud storage which is designed to deliver 99.9% durability. Redundant databases reside in a private subnet that is only accessible via our application. We leverage Amazon’s AWS security features to further “lock down” access to these systems. Network infrastructure is protected from malicious traffic by AWS firewalls. For more information regarding Amazon’s extensive security controls, see Overview of AWS Security Practices.

AWS provides TRICOAST Education with servers located in Canada ensuring Canadian data collected in Canada are always stored in Canada. AWS data centers are subject to numerous international and jurisdiction-specific security related standards, audits, and certifications. A list of these compliance programs can be found on the AWS web site here. For security reasons and as part of AWS policy, AWS does not provide the physical addresses of the data centers.

WIX

The TRICOAST Education web site is developed on and hosted by WIX. WIX outlines their various security measures in a white paper that can be accessed here.
